DESCRIPTION:The Institute of Latino Art (ILA) invites you to its Grand Opening in Pomona on June 13.\n \nOpening Exhibition:\nReclamation: Art in Contested Spaces \nFeaturing works by NSRGNTS Collective\, Rubén Ortiz-Torres\, LaPiztola\, and Gustavo Martinez\, the exhibition examines how public space\, memory\, identity\, and cultural histories are continually contested\, erased\, reclaimed\, and reimagined. Through mural-scale paintings\, installation\, printmaking\, photography\, and projections of erased murals\, the artists engage questions of displacement\, resistance\, migration\, gentrification\, and the ongoing struggle over who is visible within the built environment. \nThis event marks the official launch of ILA’s public programming and its vision as a new cultural institution dedicated to creating cultural permanence through exhibitions\, workshops\, and public programs. \nGuests are invited to experience the exhibitions\, meet participating artists and collaborators\, and engage with the vision behind ILA as a new cultural institution in Los Angeles County serving the greater Pomona region. \nSchedule: \n4:00 PM — Ribbon Cutting\n4:30 PM — Opening danza blessing by Danza Divina de Los Angeles (@danzadivinadelosangeles)\n5:00–6:00 PM — Reception + Gallery Viewing\n6:30 PM — Music performance by O Què Nube (@oquenube) \nGalleries open until 9:00 PM \nThe evening will also include a café cart by Picaresca.
